Describe the signs, where you noticed them and whether the pest has been identified. Separate an immediate problem from a longer-term prevention goal.
Ask which pest and areas the proposal covers, what work will be done and how visits or monitoring are arranged. Inspection, treatment, exclusion and prevention advice are different services.
Give each company the same brief. Compare the quoted total, visit count, follow-up, preparation instructions and exclusions before agreeing to work.

Keep planning
If the pest or extent of the problem is uncertain, ask about inspection first. Select the particular pest when seeking control. Physical exclusion, prevention advice and monitoring have different outputs and should be specified separately.

Share your location, property type, areas affected and when you first noticed activity. Explain any previous work and ask the company to identify the pest if it is uncertain.
Ask which business and technician will do the proposed work, and request current licence or authorization details relevant to your location and service. Check the issuer and scope; a membership or review score does not establish authorization. Ask what insurance covers the work.
Each company sets its prices. Ask for the quoted total, taxes, inspection or call-out charges, number of visits and approval process for extra work. A directory listing does not establish a treatment price or a guarantee.
Ask for preparation and access instructions specific to the planned visit, including any questions about occupants or pets. Confirm included follow-up, covered pests, return-visit charges and any guarantee exclusions in writing.
No response time follows from an emergency-service listing. Confirm current hours, appointment availability, charges and the expected visit time directly with the business.
Compare the company's specific services and service areas with your needs. Where a rating and review count are available, consider them together with the profile details and your direct questions before booking.
